The first slice.

So, here's how "Butter Side Up" works.  I'm going to try to post something every day, no matter how short.  You'll get the long stories and posts that my other blog had you accustomed to, but on nights like tonight, where it doesn't really occur to me to post until 11:40pm (and I need to get three people up and out the door first thing in the morning), you'll get the daily "up," and maybe a "down."

The "downs" will happen often -- they're usually the easiest part of the day to remember.  But the "ups?"  They're mandatory.  This is a blog about optimism, remember?

Up:  It took me six hours with frequent interruptions, but I recorded and mastered a six track cover of a song that has been trapped in my head for a week now.  Not my song, but I'm pretty proud that I heard it on the
radio last week, listened to it about a half-dozen times, and was able to reproduce every part except the violin.  Because I don't own a violin.
I'm thinking about possibly replacing that missing high-end sound with my flute?  It seems a bit too bass-ey without it.

And I'm hoping that now that it's out of my creative "way," I'll be able to move on, and work on some of my originals some more.

Down:  The first hour and a half of my recording time, I was completely alone in my house and uninterrupted.  That's not the down -- it was actually rare and wonderful.  The problem was, that during the last few seconds of putting down the very last track, my recording equipment malfunctioned and I lost everything.  And with only 20 minutes left until the boys -- along with some friends -- were due to arrive home.

I guess the other down is that I have no idea how to spell "bass-ey."  Or if it is even a word.

Hard at work.

But it's awesome to be appreciated.  I have a groupie!

  1. You. Are. Beautiful. Somehow, I didnt know you had continued writing your blog. I am catching up now. Thank you for all of your honesty, humor and strength. I find it inspiring and I hope to remember it in the next year as I also transition into Stay- at-home Mommy. Missing all of you, but especially you.
